The club
Founded on 8 December 1906. Deportivo won LaLiga in 1999–2000 and the Copa del Rey in 1995 and 2002, then collapsed, relegated to the third tier in 2020, where they spent four seasons on crowds that never shrank to match the division. They returned to LaLiga in 2026 after an eight-year absence. Riazor holds 32,490 and stayed close to full through four seasons in the third tier.
Things worth knowing
- Trailed Milan 4–1 from the first leg of a 2004 Champions League quarter-final and won the return 4–0 at Riazor.
- The *Centenariazo*: beat Real Madrid 2–1 in the 2002 Copa del Rey final, at the Bernabéu, during Madrid's centenary celebrations.
