The ground
Opened on 1 January 1998 and holding 16,500, the Coliseum is among the smallest grounds in LaLiga. The stands sit close to the pitch and the ground has become part of Getafe's competitive identity, a place where technical superiority is made to stop mattering. It was previously named after Alfonso Pérez, the Getafe-born forward.
Things worth knowing
- One of the smallest grounds in the division, and the club treats that as an advantage rather than a limitation.
- Named for years after Alfonso Pérez, who was born in Getafe and played for Betis, Barcelona and Spain.
- Hosted Getafe's two Copa del Rey semi-final runs in 2007 and 2008.
- The away end is among the closest to the pitch anywhere in LaLiga.
